Through her photography and videography work, 28 year old WOC Multimedia Producer Kenzie Kuhn has seen the impact that the United Methodist Church has in the local community and across the world. In 2023, Kenzie accompanied WOC members to visit the village of Kamina, within the North Katanga Conference. This was a pivotal moment for her, as she witnessed firsthand how the resources given to the North Katanga Conference were truly changing lives.
“When I was in North Katanga, I had the privilege to ride on the Wings of the Morning plane. During that flight I met a man who was accompanying us back to Lubumbashi for a procedure that was only possible because of the Wings of the Morning ministry,” remarked Kenzie. “To put it in perspective, for those traveling to the city by road during dry season, it takes 2 weeks, but during rainy season it can take up to a few months due to the condition of the roads.”
It was during that trip to North Katanga that Kenzie came to appreciate that no matter the size of gift, the collective impact is unmistakable. Upon her return from North Katanga, Kenzie immediately began giving through the Conference, and once she found her new church home at Amlin UMC, she continued giving through the local church. “I try to give as much as I can on a monthly basis,” said Kenzie, “No matter how much, it is important to give.”
Over the last year traveling to see the work of the UMC in many different settings, Kenzie has developed a strong passion for the work of international women’s ministries, and the work of Reconciling Ministries to support the LGBTQIA community. Giving as a form of worship has resulted in a deeper connection to these ministries for Kenzie.
When asked what she hopes to accomplish through her philanthropy, Kenzie responded, “I hope to be an inspiration for others to give, especially for those at a younger age - -because every bit helps in the long run.”
